Explore our Partnership with Cal State Los Angeles

For the second year in a row, the SELA Collaborative joined forces with California State University Los Angeles to take part in a unique program between AmeriCorps and Governor Newsom’s California Volunteers office. Thirty-five fellows were selected to participate in the innovative program aimed at increasing civic engagement and non-profit capacity in the Southeast LA region. Each AmeriCorps fellow has a unique background but they are all united by a shared passion for improving the communities they live in. We invite you to read on and learn more about each participant in the AmeriCorps Civic Action Fellowship.

Supervisor Spotlight

“For me, the meaning of the program is two-fold. One, we are aiming for transformative change by gathering a diverse group of individuals that will use their experiences to help non-profit organizations be better equipped to respond to the needs of the communities they serve.
At the same time, the program gives young people the space to step up and volunteer a year of their time to serve their community while also developing their skills and passions as they begin to enter the workforce. I am constantly amazed and inspired by the dedication and passion that all the Fellows have shown in their work and by the love that they hold for the communities they are a part of.”
